| OFW in DUBAI wrongfully detained | September 20, 2009 @ 3:10am | Dear Senator:
I am writing you this letter, full of Hope and prayers that it may be given due attention.
My son's case was published in the Philippine Star a couple of months ago under your column. Unfortunately, he is still detained at Rashidiya Police station on what reason, only the Philippine Consulate in Dubai could jump into it. The forensic results concerning signatures or penmanships came out negative, and no complainant has ever showed up on every hearings. In the very first hearing, they had one person as complainant. When my son (Darrell Desales) and that complainant faced each other, complainant doesnt even know my son and vice versa. On all court hearings he attended, he was asked one question only "Did you cheat and do you have the money with you?" My son will always respond "No, I never cheated anyone and I never had the money concerned". Just that short and he will be sent back to detention at Rashidia Police station.
All I asked our Consulate, is to do their job in working out how he could be cleared of that situation and be released. One letter to find out or a representative from the consulate to talk to the Chief Police in Rashidia that they should give clearance to my son now as he was detained for almost 4 months without clarity on the case. The reason why we are paying DFA employees on every post where filipinos especially OFWs, to help and assist them on whatever predicament in a country where they are alone and no family, all they wish for is to work and earned for a living, to alleviate hardship in our economic situation, while filipinos are languishing in poverty those people who are suppose to give public service are on their spending spree.
Please Senator, I want my son back to the Philipppines. He had suffered enough being away from his family, being wrongfully detained for almost 4 months now. It is only through your good office I believe that the predicament of every OFWs can be given attention and action.
