Estrada last July 31 denouncing the physical abuse and cruelty inflicted to Baran by her female employer prompted the investigation of the Senate Committee on Labor, Employment and Human Resources Development. Sen. Estrada, sitting as committee chairman, says the inquiry in aid of legislation intends to prevent occurrence of similar incidents, to punish the perpetrators of similar acts against household workers, and to further emphasize the need to urgently enact the Kasambahay Bill.
