Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada attends an Easter Sunday program and speaks before the Filipino migrant workers in Hong Kong, one of the top destinations for OFW. In 2009 alone, more than 70,000 workers were deployed to Hong Kong. Sen. Estrada, in his capacity as concurrent chairman of the Senate Committee on Labor, Employment and Human Resources Development and Congressional Oversight Committee on Labor and Employment, pushed for better protection and welfare measures for OFWs and steered the passage of the strengthened Migrant Workers’ Act.
